Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study job satisfaction of personnel of the library and Information Center, National Institute Development Administration. Personnel’s attitudes towards factors determining job satisfaction were compared according to the following variables: types of personnel, official status, educational level, types of work, and work experience. Including study on suggestions influencing job satisfaction of personnel of the library and Information Center. This research, in addition, prioritized factors that determine job satisfaction of personnel. Herzberg’s Motivation-Hygiene Theory was used as a framework of this study. A questionnaire using a five-level Likert Scale was employed as an instrument for data collection. The population of this research was 58 personnel from the library and Information Center. The SPSS program was used in data analysis. The statistics used included percentage, means, standard deviation, t-test, and F-test.

The research findings were summarized as follows: 1) Job satisfaction of personnel of the library and Information Center, National Institute Development Administration was found at a high level. All factors contributing to satisfaction were also rated high, with achievement factor getting the highest score and Company policy and administration factor the lowest score. No difference in job satisfaction of personnel was found when their attitudes were compared according to types of personnel, official status, educational level, type of work, and work experience. The factors contributing to job satisfaction were prioritized as the following: 1) Achievement; 2) Responsibility; 3) Work-itself; 4) Advancement; 5) Supervision; 6) Interpersonal relationship; 7) Recognition; 8) Working conditions; 9) Salary; and 10) Company policy and administration.
